We started in a tiny kitchen in Brooklyn, New York, a YouTube video on how to make pizza dough, and a dream of opening a pizzeria.
The incredible journey that followed focused not only on creating food that customers would absolutely love, but also on creating a pizzeria that customers could feel a connection to. A bond of sorts. Pizza Knight will ALWAYS put every ounce of passion into our products and customer service. That is a promise and guarantee.
In 2024 our founder, James, was ready to move on to a new chapter in life. He began a search for new owner of Pizza Knight that would carry on his dream with the same dedication and fervor he had begun with. Enter Mike.
Mike was also ready for a new chapter in 2024. He lost his mother to pancreatic cancer in May of that year. After her stage four diagnosis in August of 2021, she fought incredibly hard for incredibly long to continue to be the matriarch she had always been. Absolutely selfless and full of light, Mike spent those almost 3 years, supporting, transporting, and eventually completely caring for his mother. After her passing, he knew it was time for a change. He was ready to go out into the world and put some faith in himself, the way his mother always had Mike went full throttle into finding a business he could take over. He met with franchises and other independent business owners, but nothing felt right, until James...and Pizza Knight.
A New Jersey native, that has had many a pizza, Mike knew the product at Pizza Knight was exceptional. Also being a lifelong Detroit sports fan, the inclusion of Detroit-style pizza on the menu almost seemed meant to be. The first time Mike went to Pizza Knight, James (not knowing Mike was a potential buyer) took 15 minutes of his own time to help Mike get a gift card to work at checkout, reminiscent of his selfless mother. Both parties agreed the fit was great and so, Mike's search was over.
James trained Mike on everything he knew day and night, for months on end, and when the time was right, handed Pizza Knight over for its new chapter.
Based in Hackensack and born out of a love for Pizza and Rutger University, Pizza Knight specializes in bringing New York-style and Detroit-style pies, plus wings and parmesan sandwiches to North Jersey.
